My name is Jaime Tejada and I am excited to serve as the Principal of RLD High School. I have served students in K-12 schools for 27 years in Central and West Phoenix. Although I was born in New Jersey, I have lived in Phoenix most of my life. I come from a family of immigrants and am proud of my heritage and the hard work it takes to be successful.
At RLD, we will strive to overcome the challenges to being successful. We have developed strong partnerships with local community organizations to provide physical and emotional support when needed. Our teachers are supportive and we have implemented a style of individualized instruction to ensure that student needs are being met in the classroom, whether it means recovering a credit or taking extra courses. In order to be successful, we must work together to create a positive culture of learning.
There is no one way to reach student goals. As part of Career Success Schools, we work on being innovative and creating relevant learning opportunities. We will be supportive to students and help them be ready for further education or the work force. We have a wonderful state of the art TV and Film Production program. We hope our students will be prepared to work and continue learning the world of production, broadcast, and media.
As part of our journey, we must learn to work together in a school environment. Our goal is to create an environment of respect, self-worth, caring, and support. Our vision and central focus is to empower our students with skills to succeed through meaningful connections and relevant learning. We also are adopting Restorative Practices to provide an opportunity to communicate and resolve conflict and inequities as a barrier to learning. It is our hope that our practices and policies will guide our students to successful completion, promotion, and graduation. It is the Comet Way.
