Dear Parent/Guardians and Students,

Welcome to Career Success Schools’ STEM Academy! My name is Nelson Crane, and I am elated to be the Principal of STEM Academy. I started my career in education in 2012 as a teacher in the United States Air Force. Within the USAF, I was fortunate enough to develop as both a leader and educator through years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance under trying circumstances. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to teach 7th to 12th grade as well as adult education courses at the collegiate level. In 2023, I transitioned to administration where I served as STEM Academy’s School Counselor before transitioning into my Principalship. I am thrilled to take the next step of my journey this year with the STEM Academy team, and look forward to building on the foundations that were established last school year.

I am a firm believer that every student has the potential to find success and that success is unique to each individual. It is our goal to build a positive learning community where staff and students are able to enrich their lives from a holistic perspective. In order to do this, my goal is for positive relationships to continue to be cultivated between our school, students, families, and communities over the course of the upcoming school year. In doing so, my hope is to establish STEM Academy as a reliable community partner that values each individual that walks through our school’s doors.

Additionally, STEM Academy’s holistic approach extends far past our yearning to connect with our school community. Students at our school will be exposed to opportunities that will help them develop essential skills that will connect them to career opportunities. Whether venturing out on field trips or being visited by our school’s community partner organizations, students will be exposed to diverse opportunities that will help them grow as individuals. We encourage students to explore these opportunities and speak with their academic counselors, teachers, and even myself to help them find experiences that meet their unique needs. Some of the amazing opportunities we offer are:

2. Entrepreneur Workshops
3. Jobsite Visits
4. Museum Trips

Students will be guided by experienced professionals to develop the skills necessary to make informed decisions about their future and enter the job market set up for success. We will work hard to ensure each student is successful and we ask the same of each student that enrolls in our programs. The energy and effort that your student puts in will create opportunities that will enhance their future.

Regardless of your situation we can develop a plan to help. If a student is behind in credits, we offer credit recovery. If they struggle in their classes, teachers are available for tutoring. If they need to work while attending school, they can earn elective credits for work experience. If they find it hard to focus on multiple classes at once, we can create innovative schedules. We capitalize on our small-school environment and offer unique educational opportunities unlike any other high school.
